Shooter - Capture Screenshots at any size

This is my experience with the shooter Firefox add on.

Shooter Firefox add on  is used to taking or shooting screen-shots at any size, either full page or part of the page.

I installed this add on and after restarting the browser I found a black color camera icon in the right end of the status bar.  I clicked the camera icon eagerly expecting to find the options or a small window, opened to edit the options if any. It opened none of the above.

I was disappointed for the few seconds and then suddenly I found an additional window opened.  When I visited the window, I saw the screenshot of the page I clicked and different options in the bottom of the window.

I saw the  four options PNG high quality, JPEG high, low and middle to select as the image format .

The new thing in this add on which I found interesting is the ability to select the part of the page and save it easily.  Without this add on I need to open the image editing software and do it separately.  Compared to that I found use of this add on saves me much time.

You can also bring the shooter camera icon to near the address bar, if you feel it as comfortable. By right clicking the menu bar and selecting customize and place the shooter icon near the address bar and your browser will appear to the screenshot below.

How I got to know about this add on?

I got a chance to visit the site http://www.onlinecourses.org/2009/09/28/99-awesome-firefox-add-ons-for-educators/.  This page contains a list of 99 add ons.  Though they named this site as add ons for educators,  I will tell these add on are also useful for everyone who use Firefox daily.
I skimmed through the list and found this shooter add on interesting.  I used it and this post is dedicated to this add on.

Install this add on from the mozilla site and share your experience in comments.

Morning Coffee - Your favourite sites opened quickly

If you are a daily user of Firefox in home or in your office, you might have noticed that you will be opening a set of sites like Google News, BBC, Digg  and others in tabs daily without change.

Time is considered to be more precious. If you can open all your regular sites with a single click why you need to open it separately and lose more your precious time.

Morning Coffee add on comes with the solution.

Using this Firefox add on, you can  now save links which you will be opening daily.

You can also use this add on to set the sites to open in certain days of the week.  If you are regular readers of blogs, you will find that not all blogs are updated daily.  Hence it is useless to opening it daily.  Hence you can set  some sites to open in certain days of the week so that you can visit only when the site is updated thereby saving time.

Install this add on from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2677/  and share your experience with me.

Google ToolBar - Use all the features of Google through it

This is the most popular add from Google. This add on covers all the important functions of Google products. A quick view about this add on will be helpful for people who have less knowledge about this add on.

This add on is getting updated periodically, enhancing the user experience.  For example some features of Google Chrome (which is a popular browser from Google) is added in this add on.

Though a single post is not enough to tell you all the features of this add on.  You can find all the important features of this toolbar.  You are invited to comment on the features I left in this blog and comment about your opinions about this post.

Very first feature I am impressed with this add on is the detailed documentation about this add on provided by Google.  Even if you know nothing about this add on you can get the details by visiting the features page.

It has a search bar which has auto suggest feature.  By clicking the drop down arrow near to the icon you can select the services you want to search.

Some of the important features are covered in this post

Page Rank:

There is a misconception about this feature.  People thinks that this feature is useful only for web developers, web site owners and SEO people.  Though Page Rank is useful for the people we  discussed above, this featured is more beneficial for all the people.

How?

Page rank is very simple.  It displays points awarded by Google out of 10.  If the page rank is more then we can say that the site is more popular. More the site is popular , more the site is trusted.  Read more about the page rank from Wikipedia.

GMail Notifier:

This is a mail notifier.  There are more dedicated add ons mainly for the mail notifiers.  More on it in the upcoming posts.  This has two state, closed state when there is no new mails for you to read and open state when there is a new mail to read.  Mouse over it to find the title of the mails in Inbox.

Some of the other essential features of this add on includes

Add Google Gadgets as custom buttons in your Toolbar

This feature useful to add third party tools for the toolbar.  There are many sites offer their tools for the Google toolbar.  You can visit this page to get more details.

SideWiki:

This is a very new concept to me.  I researched a little about this feature and found this page googleSystem blogThis is an unofficial blog exclusively about Google.  According to this page side wiki is a browser based sidebar in which you can post your opinions of the page you are viewing directly to your favorite sites like Blogger, Facebook, Twitter etc..,

Important Note:

Google Toolbar immediately after installation prompts you to set the enhanced feature enabled or not.  If  you set it enabled then its ok, else you need to go to Options and select the required feature.

You can get this add on from here.

I hope I have covered the important aspects of this Google toolbar.  Do you find any point missing?  Please notify me in comments.

ErrorZilla Mod - Dont get stuck with page not found error

There are numerous number of sites in internet.  There are various reasons for the sites to get down when you are visiting it.  What will you do it before?

Open a new tab or type in the same page Google site and move again right?

Why are you wasting your time?

ErrorZilla Mod Firefox add on is there to help you save time and prevent frustration from these items.

Take a look at the screenshot above.  Very simple add on.  There are various useful options available when you got stuck with the great "Page Not Found".  We can look at one by one in this post.

1. Retry Now:

This just reloads the page.  Though this operation is much easier, you can consider this as an additional option.

2. Google Cache:

I consider this as an important option, because instead of loading google and finding the cached page, you can now with a single click loads Google's cached copy of the page.  I hope you agree with it.

3. Coralize:

I am pretty new to this topic.  If you know about this, please tell me.  As far I understood from this link http://www.coralcdn.org/ . It is a service used to increase the speed of  loading of the site through some techniques by appending the key words suggested by them in the url.

4. WayBack:

I have seen many add on using this option.  Infact I have reviewed about an add on which uses wayback machine here. I hope you are very familiar with this.  A quick note about this.  This is an another option to visit when the page you are supposed to visit is not found.  I found this site comes handy when I visited IBM sites for the tutorial.  They have deleted the page but it was still found in Google.

5.Ping:

Ping as said in wikipedia is used to check whether the server through the network is reachable.  This is an option with this add on.  You can give a click and check whether the server is able to be pinged.

6. Trace:

When you click this option, you will be taken to the http://network-tools.com/ .  This site has a wide variety of options like Who is Who( finding the owner of the domain), DNS records etc..,

7.Who is:

If you are in particular to find who the owner of the domain is then you can check this option and you will be directed to http://www.domaintools.com/.  You can find it there.

Got interested.  Install the add on from here and start sharing your experience with me.

Delicious BookMark - Save, Manage and Share Bookmarks

Nowadays number of sites are getting bigger and people started to read more in the internet.  Since it is difficult to remember and manage site names, bookmark becomes an essential.

There are many bookmark sites to do the manager work for you.  Some sites are exclusively for Firefox and others are browser independent.

I tried various bookmarks and I found this is one of the best add on (Any offence? express through comments).  Since I access internet in more than one computer, online bookmarking becomes an essential commodity.  I don't think you will have a different opinion regarding this opinion.

I thought to review about this Delicious Bookmark Firefox add on, because this add on comes with the following features.

1.  You don't need to learn new shortcuts to use this add on.  All you need to do is log in to the Delicious site or sign up to their site and the same CTRL-D opens you the box similar to the following.

This is a small box but contains more options. You can tweet about this link.  You can email the link to your friends or your own email.

As I saw in some websites 'Sharing is Sexy'.  I will say it is every thing.  You can share a url to your friend.

There is an option available for the users who always play with the mouse and use keyboard only to write things.  You can use Menu Bar.  Menu bar comes with Delicious menu, which contains all the option which can be performed by using this option.

A very detailed image from Delicious team is helpful

This add on has another shortcut option CTRL-B.  Using this you can view the bookmark in the side bar.

What I like most is that, you don't need to learn new shortcuts to use this add on and Delicious people is updating this add on and their site constantly resulting in rich and delicious experience.

What I told above is one third of this add on which I found and use myself?  I haven't found any add ons like this before.  I like to know which add on performs more than this in bookmarks.

What are you waiting for?

Install  this Firefox add on and start sharing your experience.
